Wind in our sails

Well what a fantastic 3 hours that was. Now we are really sailing even though
we only have the genoa and a full main up. 15.5 knots boat speed from 23
knots wind coming from the quarter. Still 70% of the polars because we should
be flying one of the codes. Anyway it was fantastic stuff. Dead of night,
stars and me on watch. The wind would pick us up and whisk us along until
the trailing wave would catch up and lift the boat up then the bow would
surf down the other side until we lost speed on the up hill bit where we would
then calm down a bit until the wind could power us up again. 3 hours of this,
it was a lot of fun. Suppose you have to be there.
Basically the boat is going fast, the sound of the waves and wind make it
seem like your on a jet ski rather that a yacht not going much quicker than
Paula Radcliffe.

Basically this was what the long 6 week wait has been all about.
