Fading lights of Cape Town

We have figured out a watch system. We're doing the three hour at night and
four during the day system. This works well since every other day you're off
for eight of the twelve hours during the daylight hours. The person who is
off watch between 1pm and 5pm is woken at 4pm to make dinner and have an hour
where we are both up at the same time. This is to try and give us some 'face
time' since what can easily happen on a two man boat is when your watch is
over you go straight below and don't say much to each other, other than "saw
a ship earlier".
We have also switched the boat to GMT which means that at the moment it is
getting dark at 4.30 (hence dinner at that time). I reckon in a few watches
time, actual time will be irrelevant and the only thing that will matter
is how long till I can get to sleep again.
Meanwhile the lights of Cape Town are fading in the distance behind us, they
have just become that orange glow on the horizon telling the approaching
travelers that a big city is near.
