Nearly ready to go

It is getting a bit more exciting now.

1. The charts arrived today - all the relevant charts for the Atlantic, Azores, Cape Verde, Canaries, St Helena and western Europe.

2. My lovely waterproof Pelican boxes arrived too.

3. Extra SD memory for my camera, so I can take endless shots of more waves.

4. Started to lay everything out on the bed to get an idea of what is going. Not too much really.

5. My new Henri Lloyd gear arrived too. Ocean jacket and trousers, mid layer warm and fluffy layer and the skin tight base layer. Like I’m going to need all that on the equator. Deck shoes, quick drying shorts. Oh yes I have all the gear so I must be a sailor.

Anyway 3 more days before I fly to Cape Town.

Heading for Madeira

Position: 14,18.1N , 21,4.41W Speed: 7 knots, Course: 310 deg. UTC Time: 03. August 2006 08:47 Pointing high towards the Canaries just east of the Cape Verde Islands heading for Madeira. Still not north of them yet. Sea rough, cloudy, rain and wet. 2 reefs in Main and Genoa. Once past Cape Verdes may bare away to make easier sailing and tack back over later on a reach. Makes it longer but easier on us and the boat.
